Who we are

MADie (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a boutique technology consultancy based in Johannesburg, South Africa. For the purposes of POPIA we are the responsible party for the personal information described below.

What we collect

We only collect the personal information you choose to give us. Through the enquiry form on this website, that is:

• your name;
• your company or organisation (optional);
• your email address;
• the message you write describing your enquiry.

We record the page the enquiry was sent from, and the date and time it was received. This website sets no advertising or tracking cookies and uses no third-party analytics. Our fonts are served from our own site, not a third party.

Why we collect it, and our lawful basis

We use these details for one purpose: to read your enquiry and respond to it. Processing is justified under POPIA on the basis of your consent (given when you submit the form) and our legitimate interest in replying to a business enquiry you have initiated. We do not use your information for marketing without asking you separately first.

How it is stored, and who can see it

Enquiries are delivered to a private Google Workspace account and stored in Google Sheets, and a notification is emailed to us. Google acts as our operator (processor) and stores data on its secure infrastructure, which may be located outside South Africa. Where information is transferred across borders, it remains protected by Google’s security measures and contractual safeguards, consistent with POPIA’s conditions for trans-border information flows. Access is limited to MADie personnel who need it to respond to you.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry information only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any engagement that follows from it, after which it is deleted or anonymised. If an enquiry does not lead to further contact, we remove it within 24 months. You may ask us to delete it sooner.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes. It is handled only by MADie and by Google as our operator, as described above.

Your rights under POPIA

As a data subject you have the right to:

• ask what personal information we hold about you, and request a copy;
• ask us to correct or update information that is wrong or incomplete;
• ask us to delete or destroy your information;
• object to our processing of your information;
• withdraw your consent at any time;
• lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.

Complaints to the Regulator

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za. Their current complaint channels are published on that website.
